Vintage steel road bike frame - unknown mfr Introduction
I bought this road bike during the pandemic thinking I'd eventually rebuild it. However, I never got around to it - and sold off some of the interesting vintage parts to a collector.
After much research, I still haven't been able to identify what vintage bike maker this has come from - it has some tell tale signs it might have been a vintage Mercian from late 1950s but after contacting them in the UK, they weren't able to match the serial number with their archives.
It also appears to be very close to an Oscar Egg bike - https://www.speedbicycles.ch/velo/457/oscar_egg_1950.html
The frame is a light high-end steel.
The lugs are nicely done.
It will need a welding repair down near the rear stay - otherwise the rust on it is minimal when properly inspected. Its been stored indoors in temperature and moisture controlled storage unit since I bought it.
I was about to re-build as a single speed but no time to work on this, especially with several other bikes.
This sale is for the frame, the steering tube and I have the steering tub headset and bottom end hardware/caps including the bearings.
$125 and it's yours.
