Like Bugle Boys they are famous for their solid bass, warm mids, and fabulous highs! These are essentially for all intents and purposes Bugle Boys only without the stamping/branding, given the production of these tubes were originally destined for the organ/console market during the 1960's. Tubes look exactly like the Electrohome pictured. They do not have the the stamped bugle boys logo, however this was common during this period of rebranding at the factory. Electronic companies deceived the pubic by saying stuff like "use only genuine Zenith tubes" etc. Inked production number says AY PHILIPS ELECTROHOME 12AX7 All great tested readings of: 1250/1250 1250/1275 1225/1250 1200/1275 -No gas or shorts! These Philip Electrohome I65-type tubes are some of the best sounding 12AX7’s ever made. Made in Holland 1966 They are famous for their solid bass, warm mids, and fabulous highs! Amperex which was own by Philips also re-labeled tubes from many sources, as did most companies of the time period. There were at least five different distinct variations of that tube type, depending on the date of manufacturing. Tube aficionado's know these tubes to be and sound among the best ever made!!!! These tubes have most quiet, low noise distinct sonic characteristics and sound very good, no modern current made tubes are quite as good as these vintage tubes! Philips owns Amperex and made + sold tubes stamped-branded Electrohome which bought tubes from Phillips, and the tubes they used are the same design, and had the same final testing as Amperex, Philips or Bugle Boy tubes. Although it belongs to a large family of dual triode tubes which share the same (9 pin) pinout(12AU7/12AX7 etc.) It has a lower voltage gain than the 12AX7, but a higher transconductance and plate current which makes it suitable for high frequency applications. It is a miniature, high-mu twin triode designed for use as a grounded-grid radio-frequency amplifier or as a combined oscillator and mixer at frequencies below approx 300MHz. This tube has a mu factor of 60, as compared to the higher gain 12AX7 with a factor of 100, and the 12AU7, with a mu of only 20. Originally the 12AT7 tube was intended for operation in VHF circuits,such as TV and FM tuners, as an oscillator/frequency converter,it is also used in audio as a driver and phase-inverter in vacuum tube push-pull amp circuits.
