Raleigh 20 “Shopper” RARE

Raleigh 20 “Shopper” RARE Introduction

This is one of the fixed frame Raleigh 20’s. This non-folding variant is very uncommon. Manufactured in the 1970’s, this one also happens to have been made in Germany, another oddity not common to many 20’s. Original fenders and chain guard. The old fork has been replaced with a new cro-mo one that fits a regular 22.2 stem. Old stem has also been replaced with an extra-long 22.2 gooseneck. Headset is a steel 1” Tange loose barring. Replacement alloy micro-adjust seatpost. BB has been re-tapped from “raleigh” thread to a standard JIS thread (I believe there is only a 1 tpi difference between the two). Euro BB with an extra-long 19mm 48 spline axle, to accommodate the crazy wide BB on this thing. Cranks are Profile Racing 165mm 48 spline arms with a steel chainwheel adapter that fits various size rings in a 5 bolt pattern (94, 110 and 130 ring sizes iirc). Currently running a 39T Suguino ring on the front and a 14T cog in the back. Front wheel is a radial spoked “Bontrager” pulled from a Trek folding bike. Rear wheel is a five spoke Troxel Trackmaster BMX wheel with Suntour coaster break internals. Rear rack and wire basket. Integrated kickstand. Super cool bike, just needs a little love as it’s been in storage for the last 10 years.
