Panasonic 3-Way Bookshelf Speakers in simulated Cherry finish. These are entry level speakers, not to be confused with the likes of Paradigm or PSB etc, but for their modest price point, they do have a few cool features to recommend them. Apart from their obvious pleasant appearance and somewhat rare (for their size) 3-Way design, they also have integrated downward firing ports that provide some bass reinforcement without reducing their placement options (as rear mount ports frequently do). We also like Panasonic's decision to use metal speaker grill pins on the cabinets themselves, which will no doubt improve their longevity. Perhaps most surprisingly, they support bi-amping, providing 2 sets of integrated speaker wires, one to power the mid and tweeter of each speaker, the other to drive the woofer. If your amplifier happens to support bi-wiring, you might appreciate this unexpected bonus. If not, you can drive these with a standard amplifier as well. These Compact bookshelf speakers originally sold as part of Panasonic's SC-PM91D microsystem. They feature MDF (medium-density fiberboard) cabinets, natural-looking cherry coloured wood-veneer exteriors, and silver cloth grilles. To beef up bass output, each speaker includes a downward-firing port in its built-in, low-profile plastic stand.
