NOS vintage 12BH7 tubes
Tested strong like new.
These are tubes which are used on many McIntosh tube amplifiers such as: MC30 MC240 MC275 and other tube amps
Equivalent to ECC99
12BH7 tubes
12BH7A vacuum tube is a medium mu dual triode,
and is compatible with the ECC99, ECC81, ECC82, and ECC83 series of tubes,
but has slightly different characteristics.
The 12BH7 pulls a bit more heater current.
The thin glass tube envelope is 19 mm in diameter, and is 68 mm tall.
12BH7 was designed as a TV frame output oscillator driver .
12BH7 Tube is capable of driving plenty of current with low distortion.
The construction is compatible with audio through to low VHF use.
This makes it ideal as a driver for power tubes in modern tube audio amplifiers.
12BH7A tube with suffix 'A' has a controlled heater warm-up for use in a series filament circuit.
In modern tube amps, there is no difference between the two.
You can use either 12BH7 or 12BH7A.
Since 12BH7 is a high current driver, the internal components are much bigger than other small-signal tubes like 12AX7. The larger plate boxes in 12BH7 house large cathode, which can emit more electrons.
The 12BH7 is like a 12AU7, but has higher power handling capability.
You have to love the 12BH7A behavior.
Especially in parallel configuration.
The only tube that comes close is the 6SN7.
Recommend to someone with a McIntosh tube amp,
an SVT or a headphone amp that uses them as output tubes.
In the first two cases, the 12BH7 is the only tube that'll do the job!
So it seems it would find a better home with folks who can't sub something in its place
Simply just plug and play! (and enjoy) the tone, headroom, vol, etc. is a lot better.
