Organ grade production tubes from 1965 made in Holland Vacuum tube designs historically moved toward more tonal neutrality and physical stability/reliability, rather than toward musical sonic goals. Looking at the 12AX7, we see a movement from early long-plate designs toward short-plate designs, for reduced microphonics. Vibration sensitivity was a big topic, and any easily-incorporated reduction was sought. However the reduction of potential microphony also meant reduction of dynamic liveliness with some tubes from that time .
