AN EARLY SPRING CLEANING.... Introduction

1. The Garrard Autoslim was a precision built in the early 1960's to highest standards. Made in England In the UK these tables appeared in high quality record players and Radiograms (Consoles) around the early to mid 1960's. During the 1950-60's Idler gear drive tables sounded better then most belt drive tables This Garrard Autoslim turntable is a good example with its original wood plinth This four speed unit combines a die-cast tonearm and plug-in shell with our exceptionally quiet, reliable 4-pole shaded motor, for excellent stereo reproduction. Handsomely styled, this popular record changer fits every installation, introducing a new standard of quality, performance, and versatility in the low budget range. Installation is simple, the Autoslim is fully wired for stereo, with a 4-pin/5 wire system utilizing separate connection for ground, to eliminate hum. Leads connect to the changer with a built in Amplok plug (for AC) and female twin phono socket mounted on the unit plate (for audio) - simply plug-in at the player! Speeds: 16, 33.33, 45 and 78 rpm Specs shows that these came with a headshell and a Sonotone Cartridge included This Garrard Autoslim 4 speed record deck turntable pulled from a early 1960's console Will need some tlc and finishing as a project Mounted onto its original solid wood plinth, however needs to attach to a wooden base Comes with original cartridge No actual serious damage apart from a few little scratches This table was removed from a functioning console cabinet, then stored away It will need restoration, greasing / service before use Suggestions to restore: The best thing to do to this table is to completely disconnect the auto mech from the arm to make it manual Then get rid of the linkage connected to the bottom of the arm Change the headshell to a "Low-line one (Less mass). Better not to use the spring loaded VTF Set it to "O" and set VTF by sliding the counter weight and balance. This Garrard turn table that can play 78, 45, and 33 RPM records it is fully auto, plays 16/33/45/78 RPM Size: 24"L x 16"W x 30"H All good components were pulled from an 1960's wooden console which was damaged The wooden console was tossed out, and only this Turn Table, front face plate, and back panel remains Got this as a project, and was planning to build a cabinet for it.
