---------( 1st printing of the First Revised Edition ) ---hardcover, a Fair example only and offered as is, green cloth with gilt lettering and design on the spine and gilt design with black lettering on the front panel, stain on front panel looks like it was a wax spill, some light staining in the same location on the fixed and free endpapers, light overall wear, many of the fold-out maps have some tears and breaks at folds, ---most significant condition issue is a missing fold-out map (page 12 -British North America 1915 ), as well there is a fold-out map which was torn from the book and been repaired and put back into place (page 121 -The Chief Trunk Railways of Canada and the Northern United States ), that map has been refolded out of alignment and is quite creased and not very flat within the book ---this copy is being offered predominately for the authorial signature " Colonel C F Winter with the compliments of the author & best wishes of an old member of "A" Co, G.G.F.G (in the Eighties ) Henry M Ami", Ami ( 1858-1931) was a Canadian geologist & palaeontologist and a member of the Geological survey of Canada and was member of 'A' Company of the G.G.F.G, ---Charles Francis Winter (1863-1946) was a Canadian military office/ Colonel in the G.G.F.G Governor General Foot Guards who fought in the Egypt Campaign in 1882, was wounded at Big Bear during the North West Rebellion in 1885 (Louis Riel) and served in the South Africa war (The Boer War ), ----1069 pages, -over 150 b&w photographs, -27 (of 28) maps of which some are single page, some are small fold-outs and some are larger fold-outs, ---a scarce book especially signed but even moreso with an important historical association, ---laid into this copy is an undated invoice from OLD BOOK NOOK on Bank Street in Ottawa which previously sold this copy for $15.00 (CDN), undated invoice but judging by the telephone number it is certainly mid 1960's or earlier, ---just an interesting little tidbit,
